Our Treatments
We are your foot and nail experts, with the most comprehensive treatment programmes across New Zealand.
Lunula Cold Laser
The Lunula cold laser is the only, pain-free, non-thermal laser that has no dangerous smoke plumes or vapors and requires no anaesthetic. It works through a rotating dual laser system, the violet laser kills the fungus whilst the red laser promotes circulation and your own immune response. A successful clearance rate can be expected between 83% and 97% of patients.
Clearanail
Clearanail is a pain-free treatment that produces very small micro holes through the nail, based upon Controlled Micro Penetration (CMP). This allows antifungal medication to reach the infection in high concentration levels. The treatment takes about half an hour on average.
Photodisinfection Therapy
Photodisinfection therapy is a simple and easy system to use in the clinic. The technology works by stimulating the production of reactive oxygen species, which effectively destroy the membrane of the fungal cells. The serum used is a non-toxic formulation containing a blue dye molecule that preferentially binds to fungal microorganisms. The serum has a lower surface tension than water, making it very easily absorbed. It is delivered via a single-use pen of 1ml and it has the ability to be absorbed by a well-debrided or fenestrated nail plate. The serum molecules attach to the fungal cells when the nails are soaked for 15 minutes. The feet are then placed under the Red LED therapy light for a further 15 minutes to complete the treatment.
Keryflex Nail Restoration
KeryFlex Nail Restoration is a painless, in-office application that restores the appearance of an individual’s natural nails. This system allows Fungal Nail Solution clinicians to remodel an individual’s damaged nails affected by fungus, defects or trauma. The composite resin creates a flexible, but durable, non-porous nail that allows the remaining natural nail to grow. The KeryFlex nail is an immediate cosmetic improvement providing a natural-looking nail. It is unaffected by acetone, nail polishes or detergents.
Topical Treatments
Topical treatments have a local effect applied as a lacquer to the affected nails acting against the fungi in the nail and nail bed. The lacquer works by penetrating through the nail. A successful clearance rate can be expected in up to 30% of patients but is not designed to be used on nails that are more than 50% infected OR the infection has reached the nail bed.
Oral Treatments
Oral treatment options have a systemic effect which means that the bloodstream carries the medication to the nail bed without the need to penetrate through the nail plate as per a topical protocol. Typically, in New Zealand, GPs will prescribe Lamisil (terbinafine) or Sporanox (itraconazole). A successful clearance rate is expected in up to 55% of patients.
Surgery
For a severe or recurrent fungal nail infection, a surgical approach may be appropriate. Fungal Nail Solutions use three different surgical procedures which are chosen on a case by case basis. These include removing the entire nail (total nail avulsion), removing a side of the nail (partial nail avulsion) or removing a small section of the nail (debridement). An improvement in successful clearance rates have been experienced in patients who undergo surgical treatment in combination with topical, oral or laser treatment.
General Nail Care
This is not a treatment for fungal nails but a maintenance for those that have significantly progressed fungal nails infections. The clinicians at Fungal Nail Solutions are trained to care for your fungal nails. Fungal nail infections that have progressed significantly can become thickened and extremely hard to self-manage. We start by thinning your nails down with our specialist drill before trimming your nails and debriding any remaining fungal to ensure that your nails are looking as presentable as possible.
Onyfix Nail Bracing
The Onyfix nail correction system is a versatile and innovative product that enables completely painless treatment of almost all forms of involuted and ingrown toenails.
Your foot care expert adapts the system individually and fixes it to your nail, which is then brought back into its natural shape as it grows. The whole process is pain-free, during application and throughout the entire treatment!
